Thanks a lot man! Actually I used Mpeg Streamclip to up rez to 720.

I also like how the shots from the booths came out. I actually shot from all three that you mentioned haha. Party booth was the best, but that's where my camera got covered in the most dust/debris.

I heard guys say you can up rez to 720 using Mpeg streamclip.

What other methods can be done to get as close to HD as you can get with out having HD.

I shot a film in Standard Def DV (with the DVX100). Had it uprezzed to 1080p through the Terranex box. It was ultimately projected at a theatre on a screen about 40 feet by 80 feet. I was VERY happy.

That's the way to go. I've used After Effects and Compressor. I like AE results better, but like being able to batch with Compressor.

They look really good for SD on my appleTV and 46 inch plasma.

Where can I get that I am trying to find a step by step video on how to do it thanks.

Nope- I've been shooting HD for years now but I hear it works well and I think they have a demo. You can't expect miracles though.

The Terranex box is pretty expensive, so you usually find it only at large post houses (although, there is a "Terranex Mini" availbale for consumers to purchase - I don't know the price). It does standard conversions and up rezs in real time.

Ha 2,599 for the mini. I'll leave it to the pro's what plugins are good that are cheap, and if not cheap whats the best plugin on the market.

What is your format in? What framerate?

I'll build you a droplet for compressor based on mine. Will be easier than trying to explain it.

BUT -- you could try it on your own too. Compressor is rather powerful. I just think the uprez is a little soft.

If I have time, I'll try RG's demo and compare it to my other methods and report back.

Hmmm... I'm using FCP 5.1.4 (ok with instant HD) -- followed the directions and I get BIG red window... "ReSizer" failed to render.

GAH.

Have to get to church. Maybe I'll pray about it and try again this afternoon.

Mike

EDIT: Well, a restart of FCP fixed that... but I've got other issues now. GAH I hate it when I have to read the documentation!!! (LOL)

Ok...

Hard to tell. I'll try some different light level shots.

These were all converted to DVCProHD 720 and are shown at ACTUAL SIZE in QT.

Upper LEFT - Red Giant Instant HD - I did crank the sharpness a bit from the default. I assume the flying pixels are RG's demo hoogie.
Upper RIGHT - Compressor
Lower LEFT - After Effects
Lower Right - DV

Mike thanks for helping me. I'm shooting 24p and 30p I use 30p for slow mo since I don't like 60i. I am a huge newb with fcp so help is needed. Can you get me a better HD look then the big red? If not can it be the same?

Shoot HD.

What I mean is...

We've given you options and even some things to look at and decide for yourself. Time to take the bull by the horns!
