Up In the Air - New Jason Reitman film

So, I don't know if there's already a thread on this, considering all four of the words are "too short" for a search to be done.

Anyway, this film looks very interesting, and seems to be getting nothing but rave reviews from places like Venice and Telluride. I loved Thank You for Smoking, but skipped Juno (the trailer made it look cringe-inducing to me). This, however, (between the reviews, the cinematography, and stellar looking cast) has become my most anticipated movie of the year.

Check out the trailer.

Just saw this today at my favorite theater, the Arclight.

Great movie through and through. I really have nothing negative to say. It was a bit slow paced at times, but that's about it. Great cinematography, great sound, great acting, everything. Script was sharp, and even though I thought it was going to enter cliche territory near the end, it threw me through the loop and defied expectation. Recommended viewing.

Hate to sound like a perv, but go even if just for Vera Farmiga's brief but fantastic nude scene.

hey i saw it at the arclight on monday too. at 4:00. were we at the same screening?

this is up there on my list. second favorite movie of the year. my favorite so far is Away We Go, although i don't think many people agree with me.

Saw this last night at the Alamo Draft House.

This, to me, is what movies should be. Wonderful performances. Assured direction. Completely believable characters for whom we feel a variety of emotions. And a story smart enough not to pander to the audience.

Jason Reitman has firmly established himself as one of the best American filmmakers of the time. I would not be surprised to see "Up…" take best picture, director and actor Oscars.

A must see.

I feel that this film is overly praised. I'm not sure I understand why it deserves the praise that it's getting. For me, it was a very average film. Good acting. Not very well executed.

Can someone explain why this thing is supposed to win Oscars?

Great entertainment, loved it for the above. All the audience women sighed at the ending leaving me to stay awake planning the sequel.

'Down on the ground' will follow with Clooney getting married. Cheers.

Odd pacing at times. I don't know why but the film stops dead in it's tracks a couple of times. Acting was great, photography was great, just the flow kinda sucked.

I thought this was a good film. I almost shed a tear for poor George at the end. Anna Kendrick nearly stole the whole show...The only thing that bothered me a bit was that almost all the people who got fired in the movie treated it like the worst thing that ever happened to them. I realize there is more drama in that, but the two times I got laid off a job I saw it coming from a mile away and prepared accordingly. Many of the interviewees were real people I'm told so their responses are genuine, but some variety might have provided perspective. As is their editorial choices seemed to conform too neatly to the narrative they were pushing.
