UP conveting 7.2V to 9.0V

HI

I was hoping to use my ZoomH4 powered with some SONY/Canon Li-ion packs I got. The H4 works at 9V while the batteries are at 7.2V.
I could put 2x7.2V in series and get 14.4V which is easier to down convert to 9V. But given the little current needed I was hoping to up convert the 7.2V to 9.0V directly from one single 7.2V pack.
Any help ? Any link to some device ? Comment ?
Could not find anything myself yet :)
THX

What type of batteries are you currently using? I also have a zoom.

I would like to use some SONY NP-FP90 or the a canon (T2i). I just thought I would create some power source for the H4 sharing some battery I got or new I will buy (for the T2i) :)

Is there a rated voltage range for the Zoom? Have you tried to see if it runs on 7.2V? Many modern products run on a rather broad range of supply voltages because they do their own conversion to the voltage(s) they use internally.

That was my original idea but didn't find anything on the ZOOM page. They only report 9V, will check better :)

If you really need to up-convert the voltage this little chip is pretty nice.

Sweet !!! that's the component I would need. I have to check if I can find some ready made circuit with it or simply use the one proposed in the PDF. I need to go thourgh all the values there and make my own calculation :)
THX !

When I first got my zoom, I almost got disappointed when its sucks in a few minutes alkaline batteries i placed on it. However, someone advised me to use Hi powered rechargable batteries usually used for photo flashes.
I got a couple of NiMh 2500mAh Kodak branded batteries. Now i seldom replace my batteriess during a shoot.
I also use same batteries for my portable LED lights. They last a long time.
They also charge fast.

GP batteries are also good.

From the manual: "Power supplies

Thanks to its circuit design optimized for low voltage operation, the H4 can record continuously for about four hours on a pair of AA batteries. The supplied AC adaptor (AD-0006) can be plugged in for extended use. When using the H4 as an SD card reader or USB audio interface, it can be powered via USB. Power Requirements: AA size (LR6) battery x 2, or Supplied AC adaptor AD-0006 (DC9V/300mA/center minus type) "

This means the device could run on much lower Voltage then the 9V from the power supply ! :)
Probably the 7.2V vould be good enough :) But two alcaline AA are basically only 3V !! WOW, it can run on such large Voltage range ?? !
