Unstoppable

Totally agree that it is trying too hard. It says it is based on actual events. I live in East L.A. where a runaway train screamed through the suburbs a couple of years ago. If this is what they are referring to, it is indeed being blown out of proportion. Yeah, there were some chemicals on board and, yeah, they caused an intentional derailment to stop it. Could have been VERY bad - but it wasn't. (Thank goodness.)

They should get Sandra Bullock as the useless love interest who drives the train and Christopher Walken as the villain. Bout time we got SPEED 3: FAIL RAIL.

The film actually wasn't that bad. It was pretty tense in a lot of places and well crafted, even if it's just a fun popcorn flick. I like Rottentomatoes.com has as a summary:

"As fast, loud, and relentless as the train at the center of the story, Unstoppable is perfect popcorn entertainment -- and director Tony Scott's best movie in years."

But is the movie as fast, loud and relentless as... The Chrystler Building?

It's based on something that happened in Ohio.

An achievement in mediocrity and formulaic plot.

Sorry, I'm not even sure it is a story as opposed to an incident. The tacked-on melodrama and the annoying movie cliches may have you rolling your eyes excessively.

We really enjoyed the film. It brought us into the story right away, and the action never stopped. It was also a great film for the theatrical experience. Denzel was SOLID as always, and Pine was excellent in his role. Good film.
