Unsqueezing footage to 16:9

I have a few tapes from another shooter that were shot in squeeze mode on the original DVX 100. In Premiere Pro CS3, how do I unsqueeze the footage to 16:9?

What project settings do I use, etc?
Thanks,
Andrew

You can edit in a 4:3 DV preset or a 16:9 DV preset--it's your choice. It will depend largely on the aspect ratio of your other footage, as well as your destination medium.

In a 4:3 project, after you capture the footage, simply select all the clips, right-click, and select "Interpret Footage". Change from the .9 PAR to 1.2 PAR. Now, when you drag the clips into the timeline, they'll be automagically letterboxed.

In a 16:9 project, you shouldn't have to do anything--the program will assume that since you're in a 16:9 project that your incoming media is 16:9, and will apply the correct PAR to the media. If it doesn't for some reason (I don't have the means to confirm this, so please, be my guinea pig :D), simply follow the Interpret Footage method above.
