unmult plug in

Redgiant had a KNoll unmolt plug in, and there is also another place that supplys the same type of plug in. My prob here is they download in a (.sit) file and it wont let put them with an application. Either that or my knowledge of macs is still very limited. If you could help me out here that would be great.

How do I install it to Adobe, it gives me the .sit file. And it says theres not application for it to open it correctly.

What operating system are you using?


Once you have it unzipped, place it in the pluigins folder of you After Effects program folder.

Mac osx 10. All I get is one Plug in file, i have 6.5 for AE.

Just stick it in the Plug-ins folder inside the After Effects main directory.

So, I'm curious. What does an "unmult" plugin do?

Unmult removes black from the image creating an image that can be composited over another image. Many fire/explosions are shot on a black background. Unmult is useful for compositing these types of shots. I believe the name unmult means the opposite of premultiply, where black is added to a keyed image, un-premultiply or unmult. Probably way more information than you wanted. bye for now.
