Universal Shock Mount for Fig Rig?

My question is, do you like the fig rig?
I have one and used it once, It was not as smooth as I had hoped for. Maybe I just need more practice.

It depends. I bought it because I thought I needed it but have ended up using the onboard mic mount on my camera instead.

Overall, I think the fig rig is a useful thing to have...it does get easier with practice. I've shot vox pops with it and I've shot performing bands with it and I've generally been pleased with the smoothness of the shots.

I've just bought the fig rig, picked it up just now and Im really impressed with it. Obviously I have yet to use it in anger but as soon as I picked it up I could feel the improvement over simply handholding the camera. It feels natural and 'right' to me. Wandering around casually I could feel an improvement in the amount of movement in the camera and whether its possible to get 'perfect' steady shots or not, to my mind it is substantially better than directly holding it.

I invested in one to use chiefly to try out as a follow cam for skiing and snowboarding events but I can see me using it regularly for handheld shots.

I did have to make an adjustment to the lock-in lever. It wouldnt tighten because of the flat body on the HVX. Took thirty seconds and an allen key to take the lever handle off and rotate it to a better position. Anyone else find this with their units?

Yes... absolutely. Glad to know it wasn't just me.

If you're talking about the manfrotto camera mounting plate lock down lever its spring loaded and if you pull it out far enough it disengages and you can place the lever anywhere you want. You don't have to unscrew the allen to adjust.
