Unedited video?

Hi

This from the Vegas help page:

"When you render video to any of the following formats, unedited video frames are passed through without recompression:"

What are "unedited video frames"? When I edit on the timeline, isn't everything on the timeline considered an edited frame?

Thanks

If there are no cuts or cropping or transitions or any effects at all on part of a clip, that part of the clip is "unedited."

So does that mean that all my footage has been compressed to the nth degree, even without exporting it anywhere?!
There's no section that wasn't tempered in one way or another. I'm talking mostly cuts. I mean if I have a two-shot, and it was cut in the middle for an insert shot... and we go back again. That's an edited footage according to this.

No. There's no recompression until you render. Nothing happens to your original files at all.

But like I said, if all you have are cuts, then the frames not affected by the cuts won't be recompressed (when rendered to one of those formats).
