Underwater Recording for Cheap

Hey guys, I came up with this great idea for underwater recording. I didn't do it yet or plan it out, but tell me if it would work.

Ok, I was thinking, instead of having the camcorder inside the water, why not have it outside the water acting like a submarine scope. There could be a wide tube going inside the water with a set of mirrors going everywhere. Then you can like film the mirrors, and the reflections would bounce everywhere so you can get an image inside the water. It may not be best quality, but at least you can get some shots underwater (like if someone falls in the water in an action scene or something).
Do you guys understand what I am talking about? Like a submarine scope with mirrors and stuff. If it worked, it would be great for underwater shots. Shut get some mirrors, light, and big tubes or something, lol.
 
..that a good idea , but there are simpler ways of getting a cam a little below the surface. in oder to use a useable size tube and all for the scope idea the cam would have to be in long tele so that the feild of fiew was looking out the end of the tube, and not along the walls of the inside of the tube.

if you want a cheap quick way to see below water just take a nice little fish tank that will fit the dvx in it and push it down into the water so that the top rim is above the water, but the bottom of it is below the water . like a boat with a glass bottom. but it has glass sides as well. if its a tall tank you can get the camera a foot or so down under the surface.. if you aim it down a little your all good. just dont let water get uyp over the top!

or you could always use a crystal clear plastic bag to do the same thing. and just dipthe cam down under the water keeping the bag opening above water.. just make sure its a THICK bag that DOES NOT LEAK AT ALL!
 
That's a really good idea man. Thanks for that idea. That is probably even better and cheaper than my idea.

What did you mean about the the tele on my camera?
 
I saw them use an aquarium like that for a Making the Video on MTV -- insure your camera before you take it in a pool.
 
Hahha, I actually saw the idea for the fish tank on Nickelodeon years back. They said to get cool underwater shots to do that.

The mirror idea seems a little too complicated just go get a underwater shot. If I had to set all that stuff up, I would just write it out of the script. :)
 
it means get insurance....incase water gets into the case and messes up ur camera so you can get a new one with out paying thousands of dollars...
