Does anyone know how to get hold of an underwater housing for the HVX?
Perhaps a good/inexpensive place to rent one?
It's only for some shallow/river scenes, not intensive underwater.
cheers-
steve
Another option is to take a 10 gallon glass or acrylic fish tank and ratchet strap a piece of 1/4" or 1/2" acrylic to the top (with a little of this) and place the camera inside. Then run the camera with the remote possibly in a ziplock bag. There's enough room in there to place an external LCD screen in whatever position you need.
I saw a great making of video once when they used an upturned jar ( a big laboritory type one, about a foot in diameter) to do an underwater pool shot with a pretty compact hand held camera.
They basicaly copied a diving bell. Turned it over and pushed it under the water, and since the jar is sealed, no air can escape, so no water can get back in
.
The camera 'operator' stood in the pool and held the camera up above the water. Another guy in the pool put the jar over the camera then they both lowered it into the water, with the operators arms under water and his hands comint up inside the jar.
