Hi everyone...
Using my EX1, I have footage shot in 1080 30p and 720 30p and edited in Final Cut using 720 30p in my sequence. I than send my edit to color and than when I have completed grading,...
I than render it......
1.) I have not tried this yet (just a thought), do I have to render it or can I just send it to Final Cut for rendering? ( sorry, might be a dumb question)
than Color asks...
"Change graded Final Cut Pro Sequence to match the Quicktime export codec?" yes or no?
2.) Which option should I go for?
when I choose yes, my final cut pro sequence changes to Pro Res 422 (HQ)
When I choose no, my final cut pro sequence remains with XDCAM EX 720p30
After I exported both quicktime movies... (movie is aprox 2.5 mins long)
Pro Res 422 (HQ)
-faster to export (aprox 4min)
-bigger file size (1.7 gig)
XDCAM EX
-longer to export (aprox 8min)
-smaller file size (522 megs)
I opened quicktime and place the 2 windows side by side to watch for any color differance or any thing else...
conclusion... I think pro res was a tiny hair more saturated but I think I'm just looking to hard and to long.
The difference here is time and file size. I thought that in the beginning using "xdcam transfer" software to import into quicktime with the same final cut settings preset "XDCAM EX ..." into color and back to final cut (xdcam ex) and export movie would be the proper way. True?
