Understanding Anamorphic and Squeese Shooting

I do not completely understand what is going on here with Final Cut 5 and the DVX100a using Squeeze shooting mode. Bringing the footage into the computer through final cut shows a file that looks great and is 853 X 480. I then bring this into final cut pro for editing. This also looks great. Comparing the Canvas at 100% I see we are editing in 853 X 480. Everything looks fine. I go to export as a Quicktime movie, and the resulting file is an anamorphic 720 X 480 that needs streching. I have tried exporting setting the frame size to 853 X 480, but you can clearly see the file has been blown up from 720 X 480 to be 853 X 480.

Strangely enough, the final cut sequence settings say 720 X 480 for the timeline, but clearly there is more there.

Basically, my question is, how do I keep the workflow of 853 X 480 the entire time? The detail is there to start, I can see it in the raw file by opening it up in quicktime rather than final cut. Somewhere along the way, it is getting downrezed to 720 X 480.

Any ideas?
thanks

export as you would normally and then stretch it back out to either 720x405 or 854x480 in quicktime. Reason I say 854 is that for me if I do 853 i get a vertical green line on the far right hand side of the frame.

But KingsReign is right, anamorphic is recorded as 720x480.

with my DVX with the anamorphic adapter I just take the 16:9 sequence and nest it in a 4:3 project, which gives me 4:3 letterbox.
