Underground, Underwater, Under Shower

Hello all,

Can someone recommend an underwater cover for the DVX that's nearly all plastic but also water/airtight?

I've managed to convince my bosses they need Media Services in-house! Which means they're gonna buy me a new DVX100A for work stuff. All good.

On the other hand it's an engineering firm and they want me to go into some strange places to film, such as asbestos removal sites and down mines......

Now my first asbestos gig is tomorrow and I'm using my own cheapie camera for it as I'm not risking my own DVX in the meantime.I'll be filming them crowbarring asbestos off the walls of a factory, where I'll need to wear a respirator and full biohazard suit, and I have to go through 3 sets of showers to decontaminate afterwards, all while carrying my video camera.

As for the mine visits, a camera needs to pass as 'intrinsically safe' to qualify going down the mine. Aluminium is a complete no-no, you can't even take a screwdriver into a mine unless it's certified (drop it, one spark and boom..)

An underwater housing would be ideal and they're willing to spend to protect the camera. But the Equinox looks like it's mostly metallic while the Epic has almost no controls accessible.

In the short term, it looks like multiple oven bags will do (the things you put a chicken in to stop the spattering when it's roasting) for the asbestos gig. With plenty of gaffer tape.

Can anyone improve on that?

that is a fairly odd request.

i would email rush@evsonline.com he's not only a great salesperson that a lot of people on here have used and trust, but he also shoots a lot of video and film so he will understand your needs better i think.
