A friend is doing an undercover artsy doco/theatre/multimedia show for international festivals. The film component of the show has a character walking around a city in a large costume - similar to a Mickey Mouse costume at Disneyland or a mascot you might see at a sporting event. She wants to film people's reactions to the character who is prentending to be a regular person. She's going to have a hidden camera in the costume, but she asked me what I thought about audio. I was thinking an omni directional lavalier hidden in the costume might do the trick, but I wondered if that would pick up the dialogue of the people who were talking to the character or just the character himself.
Also could anyone suggest a reasonably priced lav kit, preferably under $500.
