I'm rendering clips as microsoft uncompressed AVI in CS4. The clips are from a Nikon D3100 and are MOV files. The problem is that the rendered AVI is adding brightness and losing some detail quality. I have rendered the same clips using vegas 10 and this problem does not occur, with vegas the image quality is identical to the original camera file.
I have even loaded the uncompressed AVI I rendered in CS4 into vegas and saved a high quality jpeg so I can compare the two. The uncompressed AVI rendered in vegas has far more detail than the uncompressed AVI rendered in CS4, plus the vegas AVI file has not been brightened at all and looks identical to the jpeg I saved from the original MOV captured file.
I would have thought that an uncompressed AVI from CS4 would be of the same quality as an uncompressed AVI from Vegas (a lesser NLE) am i doing something wrong? Or am I missing some software? Should I move up to CS5?
I am using windows XP.
