Hello,
Forgive me if my terminology is not 100 percent correct but I borrowed an uncompressed RAW camera from a friend and I was trying to edit the files in Premiere Pro which are very large by the way and thus wouldn't play back without dropping frames. I tried creating proxy files out of cineform. I could edit once I had the proxy files but then the real problem came when I went to burn an effect into a clip which I've done many times with mp4 footage on my camera. To do this I have exported a section in my timeline as a new cineform high quality level 5 clip. However when I do this with the timeline of raw files it reduces the quality and it's no longer treating said clip as uncompressed raw so the color adjustments etc aren't the same.
How do real studios do this? Surely there must be way to transcode/export effects into new clips that retain uncompressed raw right? If so how is this done? Maybe I can't do it in Premiere Pro and I need something else?
I'm not looking to purchase a raw uncompressed camera right now but I was just testing out my friends camera to see how I'd like it. Even my friend has no idea how to really edit the files either but he won it from a contest so it's not like he bought it on a whim.
