Unbleached / Natural muslin

Hey all,

Looking to potentially purchase my own unbleached muslin fabric since a lot of the rental houses don't seem to have it readily available in my area.
I came across some fabric stores that sell them for way cheaper than say B&H. Is there a reason I should be buying it from a "film store" vs a traditional fabric store?

The film store versions may deal with hot lights better. Plus you still need to be able to mount it to a frame?

The "film muslin" may be fire retardant treated but that's easy enough to do yourself.

You could have a tailor inexpensively hem it and add eyelets or just do a dead hang with it as needed. I know the raw material is pretty cheap from a fabric store.

If you just want pieces of muslin to tape to walls, throw on the ground etc. then go nuts but I'd just buy it.

You need to buy the fabric, pay someone to make changes to it, then do your version of "fire proofing". If you're into DIY then who cares, but an 8x8 is only $80.

I bought some from a fabric manu and its fine. Havent been using so hot lights that there was a risk of lighting a fire. My tumbler makes my clothes more hot when drying them than a 2k does the muslin.
