unable to import hdv in mpeg format. CS3

I'm working on a new project for someone else and it was filmed in hdv and the files are in mpeg format. I tried to start a new hdv project but nothing happens when i click on the hdv folder file. I also attempted to import it into an existing project and premiere doesn't even recognize the files (they aren't visible in the folder).

What do I need to do? I'm so confused
 
Have they been re-wrapped into MPEG-PS (is the extension .mpeg, .mpg)? or processed in any other way?

Native hdv files should have a .m2t extension, and Premiere should import them natively

Have you tried the *.* all file types wildcard from import dialog box?

Try re-wrapping them into a transport stream (.m2ts) with tsmuxer
