Unable to import file, please help

I've been sent some video on dvd from a tv station and I'm trying to rip it then import into fcp 5 unfortunately I get" File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown.

I'm using handbrake to rip into a MP4 video file and AAC audio but still gives me the message. I even tried opening the ripped MP4 file in quicktime and exporting as a .mov to no avail. I'm on a mac platform, any suggestions or recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated :) Thanks so much.
 
can't you export from handbrake into mpeg 2 or some variation of QT?
The easiest solution is to play DVD thru a firewire device, and capture via firewire into FCP.
 
If none of that works, try hooking a your camera in the back of a DVD player. You know the old fashion way.
