umbilical hernia

Anyone on here ever had umbilical hernia before? I just got one and have a Doc appointment today to schedule surgery to take place in a few weeks. Not to excited about it. I was schedule to be filming out in no man land (New Zealand Desert) in the snow next month but now have to reschedule to a later date which we will now lose our snow.

Not sure which kind of hernia you have, but I've had a hernia operation where they work through a few small holes and insert some mesh to strengthen the tummy wall. Not a big deal. I was crazy worried up right up until I got the sleep IV; next frame: my wife driving me home. Was told to take it easy for a week, but not too much discomfort really. Best of luck.

Piece of cake operation.

Off topic: Some years ago I was at Christmas Island/kiribati on a fishing trip and met a couple of New Zealanders. They seemed a little stand-offish at first. But when They found out I was a huge fan of the Finn brothers: Crowded House/Split Enz we became best buddies.

If they do keyhole surgery, then the worst case is a big black bruise near the entry points - they do multiple ones (youtube videos exist if you are of that inclination) the canulas range in size, but what they can do through them is amazing. My son had peritonitis and a year later, the scars are little white lines.

They'll tell you to take it easy for a while, avoid heavy lifting and stuff likely to stress your problem muscles. I'd obviously ask the docs, but I bet you make amazing improvement very quickly.
