Has anyone used UltraStudio Mini Recorder?

I have a GH2 and would like to capture ProRes or uncompressed. It looks like a cheaper way to do it as long as I have my MacBook with me. I know I would still probably have to deal with the pulldown 29.97i to 23.98.

I use a mini recorder all the time for live event streaming. I can't say I know much about recording from it, but it works fantastically with wirecast and adobe premeire will see it. You might have an issue with the frame rate if it's something not standard, but if you can set it to output something along the lines of 1080p29.97, you should be golden.

I have a Panasonic GH2 and I just purchased the UltraStudio Mini Recorder expecting to stream video from GH2 to youtube via Wirecast software. I was able to get the video, but not audio. I had to set input signal in Wirecast to 1080i60.

I've been testing with different cameras and cables. I was able to get both - video and audio signal from Canon HG10, but that is no use to me since I want to get a better quality video. I also tried GoPro Hero2 and was able to get video and audio.

I wonder if anyone was able to get audio from GH2?

I'm pretty sure there's no audio out from what I've read about hooking it up to a Atomos Ninja or regular monitors. So I imagine it would be the same with the Mini Recorder.

Thank you for your response. I just connected the GH2 to a TV and, yes, no sound. Unfortunately you are right. I also just found the article about connecting GH2 to Atomos Ninja and it states "Watch out for this drawback: the GH2 does not output sound on it’s HDMI!" I guess I'll have to feed the audio separately.
