most of these low cons , ultra cons basically put a slight (white) haze over the image. ultracons claim it's only to the black shadow area , low cons the whole image, double fog = slight fog combined with low con .. of course the higher the # filter the more haze ... IMO if you want the same effect but cleaner image use the black level control ...
i have sets ( 3x3 , 4x4, & panavision size) of low cons, double fogs, ultra cons, black pro mist that i use on film projects ...
back in 2000 i tested them for video projects and only like the ultra cons ( 1/2 - 2 ) ..stopped using ultracons in 2002 ...
soft fx work good on faces with wrinkles/blemis ...
seems on some camera's that when you add a special filter the electonic's of the camera attempt to correct what the filter is trying to do ...
