Ultimate Shoulder Support

Hi all,

I am going to be doing some moving around with my camera and I was wondering with all the great minds in here if any one knew of any shoulder support systems that are worth buying.

Zacuto all the way. They have a huge 15% discount for all of their dealers during NAB. I can also hook you up with another discount if you're interested. They really are the best way to go!

Go to www.zacutocameras.com find your camera... or your camera/adapter combo... and see for yourself dude

Ultimate and Cheapest are two different things. Why don't you give us a little most info about what you're doing? Camera-only? Adapter? What? Price range? Stuff like that.

dvtec dvrig pro. I modded mine to be able to have a single rod with 1 handle, batteries or FS 100 fit nicely on the backplate...

Hey guys thanks for the fast responses.

Use: Weddings, Night club private events etc.
Price: Under $1,000 if possible
Adapter: Not at this time but possible late into the future.

I was shooting my friend this weekend and I notice that I got better footage (steady wise) with the handle versus the hand grip. I feel that I would've have gotten better footage with the tripods legs set at 90 degrees as a steady cam. That is what gave me the idea of should support.

Cinetech.

NOT under $1,000.00 however.

This one will be on sale in the marketplace soon.

Uhh yeah this is sick.. Big also maybe it looks so big because of everything you have on here. I need something that is low profile with just camera on, light, mic. But have the flexibility of adding parts later. Keep in mind I will be maneuvering around crowds of people. I really like the idea Zacuto has for the gunstock DSLR.

Anything that will allow you to brace part of the camera against your shoulder will be a huge help in keeping the camera from pitching and yawing excessively.

Aside from cost, consider ergonomics and adaptability.

I use a CAVision system for a shoulder brace. Works OK. Price wasn't too bad. The matte box won't fit the wide angle adapter for the Sony EX1. I was able to make a holder for a wireless mic receiver that hangs off the back.

I occasionally find myself hitting things behind me when turning around in tight places, even though the extension behind the shoulder brace doesn't go out all that far.

When mounted on a tripod the whole setup is a little whippy. Would be nice if the entire assembly was stiffer. In which case the Zacuto would probably be far better. Looks better, too.

I saw DVRig on Vimeo looks promising for the price. I also looked at Red Rock Micro's but for our camera to look through the eye piece everything comes out to like $700.00. Zuraco's I heard are good but man their pricey!!!

Easyrig

Easyrig

For me the ultimate shoulder support is the Easyrig 2.5, a couple of years ago I badly strainned my shoulder then had a car accident and the seatbelt did more damage, I went to physio for a year, but that helped little, finally got an Easyrig about 4 months ago and use it every day, my shoulder is finally getting better.... and the shots are more steady. www.easyrig.com they have a full range of units for diferent size camera's, check out the Turtle Rig.

I don't think anything can compare the the customization, quality, and worthwhile investment that Zacuto is.

I'll agree that for the money making professional Zacuto is the shizzle. For the indy shooting as a hobby or someone not recouping the cost of their gear (90%) of people shooting then the Zacuto is a bone headed investment nearly equaling the cost of a camera.
