Hello everyone, i was just getting around to plonking down a few bones on a wireless setup, and i noticed one key difference between models... some are uhf and some are vhf.

Which one provides better sound quality?

Thanks

UHF. Period.

(Actually it really depends on where you are. Generally speaking, UHF is the only way to go, but it is becoming very saturated. I've talked with a couple of mixers that are going back to VHF, but I really think that will be a mistake for you. Go UHF but you have to find the right frequency block for your area. Go to the Lectrosonics or Sennheiser Web site and review their frequency tables to find out what frequencies will work in your area.)

Regarding sound "quality": it will also depend LARGELY on your mic you use; UHF is not inherently better than VHF as far as sound quality (or workable distance) is concerned. Newer, high quality units tend to be UHF, and higher powered - more than 50mW, so they do offer better reception for that reason.

A second-hand Lectrosonics VHF system can be had for little money on eBay as most will be seeking the UHF versions. Such a VHF system might be perfectly suited to you, but it WILL depend on its frequency, and what interference you have at your location.

If you can afford it, go with a newish UHF system, with a good mic, with true diversity, and with selectable frequencies.

the band carrier doesnt have anything with sound quality .
but it looks that manufactures lately building better units in uhf spectrum
by the way - vhf transmitter take less power and the waves passing better when there is obstacle in the middle , it doesnt say that what made today in vhf spectrum is better ,
usually people use vhfs as it almost not in use bands which not occupied by tv station , mobile phones and other transmitting devices
the output power of each transmitter in any spectrum is more the rules the manufacturer has from fcc or any other authority
for example in europe , in most countries you not allowed use more then 50mw in uhf spectrum , in israel is 30mw 9 so every tx i have is not legal here:_))
in japan it is 10mw maximum .
if you look for something useful start with 450 us$ and up , usually this is the
lowest point for something that bring you any results in real life .
