Shot a video for someone that now is asking for a digi beta master. what the hell is that and do i have the capability of doing this through FCP?

Whoo boy.

Digibeta is the Standard Definition tape standard for broadcast delivery...the big brother to BetaSP. To output to Digibeta, you need a capture card (HD capture card if your footage is HD), a digibeta deck, and a black burst generator. The deck is rentable, but if you don't even know what one is, then I don't recommend trying to output to it.

Export the sequence as a self contained QT file...find a post facility or other editor that has FCP and the capability of outputting to digibeta, and pay them to output it for you, and pass that cost onto the customer.

Also ask the customer if they want bars and tone and the show start to be on the 1.00.00.00 mark.

yeah don't do it yourself... it'll probably end up being cheaper to pay someone to do it anyway.

make sure you talk to the post house first and see what codec they want your video in for the transfer. Some may take ProRes, but just about everyone will take a 10-bit Uncompressed file.
