Ugh! Samurai. Anyone know what this problem is.

I seem to have a new problem every time I use the Samurai. I upgraded the firmware two days ago and shot with it and a AF-100 yesterday and now this problem. Thank goodness I also recorded to the cards. I just wish I could count on getting through a shoot with a problem with the Samurai. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Hey Paul..Ouch!

Looks like interlacing.

If its not on the SD card and only on the Samurai..I think I would send that grab and info to Atomos.
Maybe its a fault in the way the Samurai is "building" the frame.

I maybe wrong but I think even progressive frames go down the HD SDI cable as interlaced.

Wish I had a better idea or solution for you but I assume you have checked your cables / connections and the camera settings.

Cheers

I noticed something similar when I shot overcrank a couple of months ago. I didn't expect Samurai to record it since there's no support for higher than 30fps in 1080 but I tricked it into doing that with garbage as a result.

In the samurai Manuel it tells you a procedure to use to make sure the recorder is seeing the pull down right. Check and make sure you follow this. I've used the samari alot on high end jobs with no problems...

I had some weird audio problems with 3.0 where there were loud beeps over the audio that were not apparent while listening to the audio through the Samurai while recording, and were not there on the SxS card version which saved me. On further inspection, I had to change the audio settings from where they were to make it stop. Anyone else have this problem?
