Well 3d has sure come a long way since the red and blue glasses, and this is a very close second to being at a show. I caught an advances screening last night and if you like music, never mind if you are a U2 fan, you will enjoy this. The first live action full length feature using entirely 3D is very well crafted, and just really entertaining. Add to that great sound and it is well worth going to see. Staring into the eyeball of Bono while belting out Sunday Bloody Sunday is better than being in the front row.
Not many negatives to say, I am hard to impress, but this did it.

Hey, I was just going to start a thread about this...until I saw this one of course.

I am not a huge U2 fan. I only have a couple of their CDs but I love their music. When I first saw this on the net a few weeks ago I immediately couldn't wait. I see that it officially opened January 25th and was wondering if anyone else here has seen it and what they thought of it?

I am taking the little lady on Feb. 15th. It opens at select theaters in Cali on that day so we will be at the Arlington in Santa Barbara to check this out! I'm definitely looking forward to it. The reviews are incredible.

This film just opened last night in theaters in many surrounding areas. I just saw this last night and it was a blast. U2 is not even close to being one of my favorite bands...but it doesn’t matter...the experience was pretty memorable. The 3D is at a WHOLE new level now.

I remember being a kid and watching Friday the 13th part III in 3D. It totally sucked. You were basically waiting for a 3D effect every now and again...in between shots of very blurry footage. This is NOTHING like that.

This is crystal clear beautiful cinematography in 3D space for the ENTIRE time. At times, you felt like you were there, on top of the crowd and flying all over the place to get the best view. Plus, its good to see they ditched that ridiculous paper 3D glasses technology of yesteryear with a blue film over one eye and a red film over the other. You are given very Men In Black style looking sunglasses. So, they actually stay on your face. Though, I kept lifting my glasses up to view the blurry images, only to lower the glasses over my eyes again and whisper to my girlfriend "this is unbelievable!"

I highly recommend this whether you are a U2 fan or not. And definitely try and see it at an IMAX. I loved it but our theater wasn't even IMAX so I didn't even get the full immersive surround sound experience.

Btw, Barry Green puts on one hell of a show!
