Typing on a computer?

How would you go about explaining in a screenplay format, what someone is typing on the computer, like in an online conversation?
 
since it's all visual, I would just type it out in the action blocks.

Generally people don't put important things into IM conversations, though (at least as far as movies are concerned) because you don't want your audience to spend too much time reading.
 
Well I understand how to write the conversation in a screenplay. What I mean is, how would I incorporate the location. For example,

INT. HOUSE - BEDROOM -- NIGHT

The lap top sits on her lap, as she types "hey" and presses enter.

INT. APT - LIVING ROOM -- NIGHT

Matt, is on the receiving end of this conversation. He types his "hello" back.

NOW, would I have type in the scene heading over and over again as they type their new response. OR, could I just explain the locations, and then just write out the ocnversation?
 
Hey Bro. This is an easy fix what you want to use is an INTERCUT. Which basically would mean you use two scene headings then write in the script you want to INTERCUT between the two. I found a lame example of this online for you to see

INT. SHERRI'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Sherri starts disrobing in front of her open bedroom window.

INT. LENNY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Lenny gets up to cross to the fridge to get a beer. He looks out his window and
catches a glimpse of Sherri across the courtyard. He freezes, watching her.

INTERCUT BETWEEN LENNY AND SHERRI

Sherri sits on the bed and unbuttons her double-breasted suit jacket.

Lenny moves closer to the window for a better vantage point.

Sherri stands, hopping a few feet, trying to step out of her skirt.

Lenny, eyes glued to Sherri, moves to keep her in view. He slams his bare foot
into a dumbbell on the floor.

LENNY
Ow!

Sherri hears the yelp and looks in Lenny's direction.

Lenny sees Sherri and DROPS from her view.
 
INT. SHERRI'S APARTMENT

Sherri cradles her ample breasts.

Lenny realizes that ultimate passion is finally within his grasp.

Sherri is horny enough right now to take on the entire defensive line of the Minnesota Vikings.

ect etc etc.
 
Nah man, I wasn't making fun of you. I've been trying to write a script actually that's supposed to be sexy. Very difficult without sounding cheesy!
