Hello, I am editing 2.3 material shoot with a ared one, final destination is a DVD. What type of sequence should I get 16x9 or 2x1? is it better to get the black bars now? at what part of the process to a DVD the bars are added if I edit at 2x1? sorry for this many questions, I am new to AP. When I export a sequence, the window I get is the same than encoder?

to make a DVD, what would the process? do I have to go to encoder and then encore? like in apple ,compressor and dvdsp?

best regards

Edit your film at it's native aspect ratio, then export it at 1920x800. This gives you a true, 2.40 aspect ratio, with no bars on your master file. When you burn this to DVD, it'll add any letterboxing needed. If editing in 2.40 is a must, you can create a sequence at 1920x800 and drop your footage into it.

Here's an example:

Edit native by dragging a clip into the New Item icon, then export to mpeg2-dvd. It will automatically add the black bars.

If editing in 2.40 is a must, you can create a sequence at 1920x800 and drop your footage into it.

You should always do this if you're doing a wider AR via crop, because how else are you going to re-frame shots during the edit? The process should be done all the way through.

Besides, if the footage is taller than the sequence setting, you'd be able to reframe. If it's not, you can't, no matter what.

Well, you could zoom in, but I would not advise that except in last resort.
