Tyler's Ultimate - Food Network

Does anyone out there know what camera (or at least what codec/format) is used for the production of this HDTV show? And if known, what NLE is used for this production?

We are drawing near to camera upgrade decisions and want to confirm some shows that we've seen and are honing in on the target :o)

Also of interest. If anyone can point us to some HD shows where the camera type and/or format is known, please advise that (or also) so that we can do the same visual comparison/research.

Thanks in advance for those who respond.

Not really helping here, but just want to say I love that show and just love the food network period.

You should try searching IMDB maybe they'll have the specs and stuff on the show.

Matter of fact, I've saved you some time.. here's the link... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0395906/

Cool. What we notice on the show (which we have noticed on a number of others since going HDTV programming - that is - we had the TV for a year but not the programming :o) is that when there are quick movements there is significant motion blur. That is, he's a mover and when he moves his head back and forth or his hands a lot, the blur is so significant that I liken it unto animation like the tasmainiane devil or animated head shaking (intentional blur) and at times when the zoom is in on the table and his hands are moving rapidly (like he does all the time naturally) the motion blur is so much that it actually looks "out of focus."

Thus we are to wonder if this is the camera-format/codec or the NLE editor? Someone told us that HDV format has a rough time handling motion because of the high GOP formatting and another has told us that it is because this type of issue is only present when using FCP because of the MPEG QT codec conversion.

What I don't know is I don't know and short of going out and renting gear to shoot and access NLE software to test, I thought it would be easier to see the things we don't want to end up and try to find out how that workflow is. Make sense? :o)
