Are there any other fans of Tyler Perry's around here besides me?

I've seen some of the stage shows and they are hilarious! Diary of a Mad Black Woman (the film) was not as funny on the big screen as I thought the live performance was. But I am sure looking forward to Family Reunion coming out soon!

Sorry, never heard of them. I thought this thread was gonna be about Aerosmith. :cheesy: <--- where's my damn smiley!

No, haha!! That would be Steven. :)

I somehow didnt think there would be a swamp of replies on this, but the guy is soooo funny. Its a shame everyone doesnt know about him. Its a grassroots campaign, I tell ya!

I haven't been on the boards in a while (busy). Leave it to Thartley to peak my interest again.

I saw an advanced screening of "Diary" last year and I tell you, as the only white boy in the audience it was a real treat! I had never seen a film where the audience was all black women. They were so vocal the whole time, it was a blast. "Mmmm, no he didn't." The film was ok, but it was the experience that will make me remember Tyler Perry!

How did you manage to get into that screening? :D Yep, seeing it in a packed auditorium is the only way to go. So fun!!!

I worked for a marketing company out of Denver, but was a satalite in SLC. I attended screenings and wrote audience reaction reports but really never did much. That was a while ago. You know, I think I'm still employed there... weird.

I worked on the DVD shoot for Madea Goes to Jail. That was my first Tyler Perry experience. I had never even heard of him before. I thought that the play was hilarious. We shot five or six performances and each one was unique because he ad-libs so much throughout each performance. On the last night of the shoot I went into the theater and watched about 30 minutes of the show with the audience. The amount of energy in the room was amazing. I had seen it several times in the truck already but to see it live was even better. People were going crazy in the theater. It was great to see people dancing in the aisles and having a geniunely good time. The next time he tours near you I recommed going to see him. The DVD is in the final stages of post and should be available in another month or so.

that's funny...well this is funny to me at least...i just finished watching madea goes to jail...the DVD...and fuboy that's cool to know you worked on it.

and you don't have to be black, white or brown...to know when he starts to ad-lib and the cast is trying to stay in character...true professionals and it's funny.

Tyler Perry graduated from the film program at my school.

...that's really all I have to add to this thread (I've never seen his flicks.)

PS: Good to see ya around Terry!
