Two videos simultaneously playing side by side

I've been searching for this for a while but can't find it.

I want two videos playing at the same time on the screen. I want one on the left and one on the right.

Then I want the one on the left to fade out, and the one on the right to fade to full screen. I knew how to do this in Vegas, but can't figure it out in FCP yet. An hour of internet searching didn't yield much.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make two video tracks in your sequence timeline. put both clips into it. Double click on a clip, to bring the timeline clip up in the viewer. Open the motion tab and scale the clip to 50%. Click on the "Center" control and move the clip to which ever side you want. Do the same to the other clip and they will play, side by side. To fade one out you can either cut it to the length you want and add a fade out or cross dissolve, or fade it out with keyframes in the Motion tab control setting "Opacity". To make the other image full screen. Use keyframes in the "Scale" control. First keyframe 50% and the last key frame 100%.

I just did it and it took me two minutes.

Also,I forgot.... when you scale up, you need to also keyframe the positioning move so that it centers back to the middle.

OK... thanks David. I'm transitioning over to FCP from Vegas. So this may take me two hours instead of two minutes, but hopefully I can get it looking how I want.
