Two Questions - moving projects and importing

Why does fcpx want to show me every single file on my drives when I try to import.Takes 10 minutes and often crashes. Hard to scroll slowly enough to see what's there.

I've cut a feature as my first project on fcpx, which wasn't smart. My drives are bulging with data, but when I tried to move to another back up drive, I couldn't open the project again from the drive.

Someone hit me up the side of the head.

If you're just importing .MOV files you can just drag those right into an Event- no need to fire up the Import window.

but I can't see the files on the drive. all I see is one big avchd file marked PRIVATE that includes all the individual clips. If I open the drive with 6000 files on it then I can see the individual files. trying to move private file into the event folder doesn't work either.

Ok that's a camera archive not individual clips- so you'd need to go through the import window. You could organize each card folder under a specific import folder on your drive and then add that as a favorite location in the import window. Then click on that first and navigate down to the folder with the card you want to import. If it's really slow to do even that, perhaps you should look into an upgrade on the RAM or hard drive speed end. It should be pretty quick to load up.
