Doing a short in about two hours and changed my mind on how I wanted two scenes to look.

DISCLAIMER:
I have an idea on how to do these but it might not be the best idea.

I need to know how to get good/great crushed blacks from within the DVX?

AND

Whats the best way to get the "Saving Priv Ryan/Gladiator" feels?

Crushed blacks: Drop your Master Ped setting in your scene file.

Private Ryan: Use a faster shutter speed. Crank it up and see what you like the best.
 
Well Coffee you'll probably need a lot of lighting with trying to attempt the private ryan look. I thought I saw a posting here in the screen crab section that emulated that look and a lengthy descussion about it.
 
For crushed blacks, set the master pedestal fairly low. The lower you set it, the more crushed... -10 is a pretty good place to start.

For the stutter effect you're after, try setting your shutter speed on 1/1000. It'll require a lot more light, but it'll give you the effect you're after.
 
The setup setting is 0 IRE on the left column and 7.5 IRE on the right. Having the setup at 0 also makes it darker.
 
excellent! thanks guys, the shoot went great and we're getting together again tomorrow to lock down the exterior shots.
