Twitter?

I'm finally caving in and opening a Twitter account. Anybody else doing this?

www.twitter.com

It's basically 140 character messages that you post- people "follow" you (ie. they are subscribed to your messages) and you "follow" other people (ie. you are reading their messages). It's very big in techie circles... seems like a cool way to be apprised of what people are doing.

Then I'm in.

Nothing more patriotic, than keeping the Man appraised of yer every move.

In fact, not opening a Twitter account would therefore suggest a hatred of freedom.

So, all you non-Twitter-using types - why do you hate freedom...?

I watched the video about what and why... and I got to meet Carla, and hear that she reads email everyday and has a mobile phone... and then I got bored and realized I don't care that much about the minutia of even my best friend's lives. *click* off.

I've said it before... I think the "emo" generation is now... very self-absorbed society. Somewhere in the terrorist world they're watching that twitter video and screaming "you got tu be kidding ME... we kan't defeet THIS?":Drogar-Vampire(DBG)

 No really... looks like fun... I can't wait to hear about that cup of coffee.

This occurs to me every so often...some bearded guy squatting in a cave somewhere watching a battery-powered tv, seeing the basic self-absorbed in-denial consumerist narcissism all around, wondering, what do we have to do, to get through to those people...?

Bwahahaha! Now that's funny!

Hey for the record I didn't imply "convince"... I implied the school bullies from the trailer park across the train tracks, who's life may be hard... in a battle with the chess club.

this has been going on for years, people using "away" messages on IM or status updates on Facebook to tell people when they are showering, eating, and pooping... and personally I think it's annoying getting updated every 15 minutes. Twitter seems like nothing new, just the most annoying part about IM/Facebook (the constant status updates) without any of the other functionality that actually makes IM/Facebook useful.

Yet, somehow it has still managed to gain momentum...

Update: Twitter isn't as great as I thought it would be.

People make CONSTANT updates about all the tiny little things in their day. I thought it was going to be more interesting than what kind of cheese they are buying at the grocery store.

Ugh. Yeah that pretty much confirms why I'm not interested.

I'm not sure who's worse; the guy who makes time to write cute little updates about the mundane details of his day to day life....or the guy who has the time to read them.

They'll be facing each other for all eternity, over a ping-pong table in Hell.

That's how I'd write it, anyway.

Ha ha ha ha.... I like it.

As long as they'd be forced to Twitter about it for all of eternity too.
