I'm trying to find the one where the mom leaves the boy to watch over his grandma, but she may be dead, so he has to hold a mirror in front of her face to see if she is breathing. The grandma is evil? In the end, the boy's mom has red eyes.

Ok, I know that is the least amount of info, and it is very random, but when I was a kid I saw that one (or at least those parts and heard the horrible sounds of the rest.) I spent most of the time hiding in the couch to see what happened. I know it scared the crap out of me, and now, as an adult, I want to see it to know how scary it really is. Help me out? It was mid 80's.
 
Not sure I know the one you're talkin' about. But there was a Twilight Zone that scared the heck outa me when I was younger. The one with Shatner, Nightmare At 20,000 Feet. Dude, I was so scared of that one. Still kinda freaks me out a little now.

Amazing Stories...man, now that was good television programming.
How I loved that damned show...

Anyway, your memory sounds like the 'Zone. ("The New Twilight Zone" to be exact.)

I believe you are thinking about the episode written by Stephen King.
