TV Show Drive; How can shots like these be achieved?

I'm pretty sure they attach a giant steel arm to the frame of the car, and stick the camera on that. Then, in post, they erase the parts of the arm that are visible.

I've seen some of these contraptions that they use on car commercials. Pretty cool.

Thanks! I always thought the crane was attached at the bottom of the car, I guess not! Do any of you know how much a crane like that costs?

Well, I'm sure there are some that attach to the frame of the car directly. I believe that this kind requires extensive modification of the car - probably to tie it into the frame somewhere.

Those look good but I'm looking for a mount that can film a few feet from the car like shown in my first post.

Drive tow rig removal

Drive tow rig removal

If this is the (2 shots) I'm thinking of, I did them. The car was shot on the road with a tow rig under the car.
The actors were shot in a half car with a windshield ion greenscreen.
It took a few days of comp work to restore/rebuild the road under the car/remove the tow rig.
Because the car and camera were always locked together it was possible to add in the actors
with a minimum of fuss.
Some comp problems were generated by the tow rig plate being scaled and repo'd by a junior before I started on the shot. This meant that the the GS palte din't line up as wellas it should have at the end of the day.
My question is, what is the episode that is from?
I'm trying to get the shots from the facility I was working at, but it's been a few years now and I can't remember what the episode name or number is, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, B
