i had snapping on in fcp soo when i drag a clip it will snap to the edge of the timeline marker soo i can set it to music n what not when editing... well somehow that got turned off and through out the past year or so i have never ran into this soo i dont know where it is to change it back!

Also, all the way to the right of the upper timeline, next to the 'arrow' there's 2 buttons. It's the one on the right....

yah i like the n idea better, i red the apple pro fcp training book front to back last year and have been using fcp for some time and for some reason had never realized this lmao i didnt even know how i turned it offf

which leads to my question, does anyone know of anyplace i can take the apple fcp certification test online?

As a certified FCP trainer, yes, you have to take the class at a certified training center. The test has to be taken there, too.

BUT, you don't have to take the class to take the test. When I did my End User Certification test a few years back, I did the book cover to cover on my own and took the test. It was tough. If you can afford the class, take it!

I repeat, it is NOT an easy test! Know that book well!

Yeah, if you don't know how to turn snapping on and off I would suggest not taking the test without a lot of studying first....

I know two experienced professionals who make a living as editors (both Avid and FCP) and they did not pass the Apple Certification test the first time. The test is really comprehensive. The Apple Training Series of books are good tutorials for preparing for the test. I prefer real life, it's an open book test.

I am also looking to take the Certification Exam. Apple outsources the exams to Prometric, which helps you sign up and register for an exam. But I'm having trouble because I want to register for a Level 1 FCP exam, but it won't let me unless I get pre-approved. Which I think happens when you take the course. But I was under the impression that you could take the exam without taking the course. I bought the book with hopes to take the test on my own. I know that this is the case and I will probably find out a way to take the exam; I just think it's silly that I have to go through so much unnecessary trouble to do it.

Go to http://certifications.apple.com to register for an exam at an Apple Training Center near you.

I might start another thread on this, but can any Certified Users tell us more about the exam? Example questions? Things to know? Do we need to memorize every keyboard shortcut?!? j/k.

But seriously. Do we? :crybaby:
