Tube for Gripping. (UK)

Mods feel free to move if appropriate. (This is about kit for 'cinematography')

So im starting to consider my Ronin and use with vehicles. It fast becomes apparent that I will need to invest in some quite heavy grip equipment. Thus far I have used 1/2 and 5/16 bars systems. These will not be strong enough for some rig set ups.

I need to upgrade to scaffold size section material but I am not sure what size to buy into.

I want to be able to pop in on other sets as a day player and interface with the kit that is on set. For example mules/golf carts that have been upgraded for cinematography.. owned by third parties.

Here is my understanding.

1.1/4 tube is a small scaffolding UK standard (handrails?)
1 1/2 is Speedrail, which is an american product
2in is UK large scaffolding.

It would seem that I should get kit that works around the (small and light) 1 1/4 standard and get some fixings that go to the other standards.

Im also interested in comments/products..
Tow bar ball attachment.
Cheap sources of general clamps
Clamps to 'baby (5/16) spuds

Any comments.

Not sure what to suggest for the UK, but I use schedule 80 Aluminum Speed Rail.

Schedule 40 would probably be fine for smaller lengths.

I'd go more by the types of clamps you have readily available, than by a particular diameter of scaff. Call around to local key grips and ask them what they use - you'll then at least be working with a standard that you can easily source additional grip gear for when needed.

Oddly I got this info from a high profile key grip but it doesn't seem to quite align with product readily for sale so I thought I would widen the research pool :)
