So about 6 months ago a member named Eximious formed TSC (The Screenplay Club) where Eximious planned to post a films title once a week for anyone who was interested to discuss the script. What made the story succeed/fail, characters interesting/uninteresting etc. Basically, it lasted two films: Shawshank Redemption and The Princess Bride.
If i, or anyone else, started this again, would any of you be interested?
it doesn't matter if we read or watch. reading would be better only as an individual exercise but when discussing, i think both are fine. as long as we help each other point out the, or lack of, plot points, inciting incidents, key incidents, mid points, character arc, what is it about the protagonist that makes he/she/it appealing to the audience, character flaws, antagonists, which character fills which archetype and EVERYTHING ELSE as there are many more.
the reason i want to do this is because there are films where i can't always pick out some of the things listed above. SO, anyone????????? I'm looking right at you Randal
