TS Mic

I was upgrading the external mic on my after market car radio. It used 1/8 or 3.5mm jack so I thought no problem I've got a few of those lav mics around. Turns out they were TRS mics, never encountered TS mic before. I've already purchased TS so no need for suggestions but can anyone refresh my IQ on the subject. Am I right in thinking the TRS is ground, plug in power, and audio signal and TS is ground and audio? I'm assuming TRS is better but not compatible with the radio? That's why I bought TS mic so I didn't risk damaging my mic or the radio.

Not always. Two circuit systems usually have audio and DC on the tip. Sennheiser and Sony used to have wiring in the paperwork that was in the box. Separate DC or hot audio are quite common. The common throw away when wrecked chinese headset mics come in TS and TRS versions, and of course we also have 4 circuit versions too to cope with combined in and out.
