Trying to output 24p (shot on Canon XH-A1)

Okay, here's my dilemma,
I shot a full-length feature in 24P with the canon xh-A1, which looks beautiful. Besides the fact that my system is now crashing on a regular basis, what is the best way to output my film to HD? (Seeing that you cannot do Edit to tape function with HDV). Should I change the codec to Apple intermediate codec or apple Pro-rez and output straight to an HD cam deck? I'm getting a little nervous here, the film came out beautifully, but obviously doesn't mean much if I can't get it out of FCP. Gola is to get it out to the festivals...thanks for the help!

HDCAM? You need a capture card like the AJA Kona series or Decklink HD series, or even the Matrox MXO. No firewire to those decks.

You can PRINT TO VIDEO to HDV...but not sure how the 24p (actually, 24F...Canon's 24p) will actually work out.

Lots of questions here. Did you cut 24p in the original 29.97 footage with pulldown. Or did you have the pulldown removed on capture, or processed after the fact. If you left it in a 29.97 sequence you should be able to print it back out to your HDV deck. FCP has to re-encode though to reconstruct the mpeg-2 stream though, which can take a long time, especially for something feature length, and which can introduce some new compression artifacts. If you converted your footage to 24p, and cut in a 24p sequence, you'll have to put your cut back into a 29.97 sequence, which will add pulldown, and then output to HDV. If you just want to get this thing out to festivals fast most of them take DVD's for review, so I'd just drag your sequence into a DV NTSC sequence, select all and export a Quicktime Movie. You can render first if you want. If you don't FCP will render as it exports, saving you a step. Take the DV NTSC movie into toast or idvd and your good to go...In the future, I would NOT edit in HDV. I'd convert it into Apple Pro RES, DVCPRO HD or AIC while converting to 24p.

Yeah,
I thought about converting the codec before editing, but I would've needed much more drive space to edit in the apple codec - as far as output to HD cam, I won't do that at home, just wanted to prep it before taking it to a post house- so I figure I'll trasncode it to Apple Pro-rez beforehand, unless someone can suggest a better codec.
