trying to hook up a TV for playback

ok, I bought a dvi-to-video (rca and s-video) hooked it up, sent an rca to a vcr and coaxil to the little TV (the vcr was neccisary because the TV had no "Line 1" channel or anything.

I plugged in the rca into my camera and sure enough it came through to the TV, so the hardware is all set up right.

But put the rca back into the computer and im not sure how to get a signal. By defualt i cant see playback, or the desktop, or anything but the blue screen from the vcr "line".

Anyone done this before? Help a buddy out?

THANX! :D

Did you go to View- External Video- Show All Frames? I think that's how I got it to work. But I was using my camera to dump a project to, and that's what I needed to do.

Sorry if this isn't what you're asking for, but it's the only thing I can think of.

Close FCP go to your displays and click 'auto dect displays...your screens will flicker open up FCP and you should then be able see it on there.

well if this is how it works for you then i have a feeling its my copy of FCP, which i regret to say i aquired through "suspicious" means. :)

Compressor also doesnt work, consistantly getting to 50% and Unexpectedly quiting.

So this is what you get when you try to save a buck (or a thousand) and guess i may be spending a grand sooner than i had hoped.

If anyone has any other suggestions please offer then, other wise I'm going to ask around school before giving up.

Thnks
