Trying to get this cable to work (2)

I have this HDMI to component HD splitter. Am i using it wrong? Trying to get from a Canon 7D to a monitor with a component HD input. I can get HDMI from the camera to the monitor but not through this cable.

suggestions?

The camera is outputting a digital signal through the HDMI port and component is an analog system. The two aren't compatible without a box to convert the signal. Why not just get extension cords to go from that to the TV?
