Trying to fix a misplaced mic

Thanks ya'll.

I had to do a shoot while suffering from a lung-crippling flu, and so mostly delegated the work to hard-working but eccentric interns, and this is what I've got -

We interviewed a guy with a think accent (Swedish) who we can NOT interview again (was in New York from Sweden) in a big black-box theatre.

Audio already not great.

Next, I just noticed that the lav was placed roughly at his mid-chest level. Was a good mic, couple thousand dollar something or other that a friend lent me, but the voice sounds mighty hollow and "bassy."

I'm not a good sound mixer, and will not be mixing the film that this is a part of, but I cannnot stand to hear the guys voice! He had a deep voice already, and now it sounds like he's freaking Odin.

Can someone tell me someway to filter him in FCP to get him sounding mortal again?

Thanks

And, if you find you can't fix it to your satisfaction...subtitle it.

But...and it sort of works...Audacity has a "Change Pitch" effect filter. It can raise or lower the pitch of things without changing the speed.
