I was listening to some Daft Punk tonight, and started thinking about their *cough* live *cough* appearance with Kanye at the Grammys this year.
Anyway I found the video on YouTube, and I'm curious how they made the first shot in the video. It's a continuous shot from 00:00 to 00:55, that starts in the aisle in the second floor section, and moves up pretty quickly toward the stage, to join with the crowd and sort of dolly back and forth for a while, while slowly pushing in on Kanye. I don't see lateral arc (is there a better word for it?) of a crane shot, and if it's handheld the operator was moving pretty quickly, and holding the camera extremely steadily.
Any thoughts?
