Hello everyone,
I just had a question in regards to a stylized form of shooting I finally learned what to call. I was watching the bonus features on the new Gladiator Collector's Edition and heard the term "truncated shutter angle" used in regards to the jittery almost frenzied look of the action sequences. I always wanted to know what this was and how it was accomplished.
I Googled "truncated shutter angle" and found nothing, nor did I find anything by running the same search here (which lead me to believe that this is not the exact term). Can anyone explain to me what this is and how it is accomplished? I assume it is done by shortening or decreasing the shutter speed during high-speed action sequences, but I doubt that's all it is. If I am not being clear on the look I speak of, it can be specifically seen in the 'tiger' fight sequence in the movie Gladiator.
I've seen this technique used in several movies and TV shows and I for one love the aesthetics and "frenzied" feeling it brings.
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks In Advance!
