trouble with rendering

I am fairly new to vegas, and I have gotten to the point in the project where I must render. I have shot with a dvx100b in 24p mode. I need to render as an mpeg2, but I am having trouble. I did it once, but I am not sure if the settings were right. Is it supposed to be set to 23.976 fps? because when I did that originally, the video staggered while the audio and cut points remained in tact. I then switched it to 24fps, and it apperaed fine. Is this still 24p? Another issue is that, I had to go back to the project to make some changes, and when I go to render as mpeg2, and 24p widescreen ntsc, I can do it, however the custom menu is no longer available. Keep in mind if I randomly switch to another setting such as .mov, the custom menu becomes available again. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong, or what I can do to fix it? Thanks in advance

your 24p mode on camera is really 23.976 ... do not edit in 24fps TL ..

if you are rendering your mpeg to be shown on a computer you can render out at 23.976... if it is meant for a DVD then you must use DVDa 24p template ( it put's in flags for pull down ) .. if you attempt to play that rendered DVDa mepg on your computer it will play back jumpy - skips frames ( most player down't know how to handle the flags ) ... however a SD DVD player knows how to handle those flags and will add pull down for your NTSC TV ... if you have a HDTV then the HD TV will remove the pull down ( in menu you turn it on) that was just added by DVD player ...

if you do not have DVDa then do not render out as mpeg .. render out a AVI and take that to your DVD aurthoring software and let it create the 24p files..
