trouble with fcp6 and p2cms workflow

Heres my problem:

My footage is on an external HD that was pulled in by P2CMS while out in the field.

Ive imported the footage into FCP6 using log and transfer.

I have playback of my footage, so everything has been imported from P2CMS files to .mov files nicely.

The problem im having is when i save and shut down my project. The next time i go to open it, all the files are offline. Ive had to reconnect them by using log and capture AGAIN.

So what am I doing wrong? Im sure its something insanely easy, I just cant see it. Plus my footage is close to 200 gb's and i dont want to have to reconnect the way ive been doing it for the next 2 months.

Do you keep the external harddrive attached? I always thought log and transfer created self-contained files, but maybe FCP is looking for the external harddrive. If that's the case you have to keep the drive attached and make sure it's name is staying the same.

Just throwing it out there.
