Trouble With Disappearing Anamorphic Flag When Capturing!

Recently, only about one out of eight or ten clips I capture are correctly interpreted as anamorphic footage.

It's very strange and hit and miss. If the clip doesn't show up in my bin with an anamorphic checkmark, I have to rewind and try again at least ten times per clip before finally getting a checkmarked capture.

My only theory is dirty heads on the recording camera, but I don't understand why I can go back and eventually get the flag to show up if I try multiple times.

Any thoughts? PLEASE HELP, as it has no less than tripled my time capturing!

What format are you capturing, what device are you capturing from, what capture preset are you using?

HOLD IT!!! Don't recapture. Simply go into your bin and you will see a whole bunch of information captured along with each clip (all that stuff to the right of how you titled the clip). Scroll to your right and you'll see an "Anamorphic" column. Just click in the column and a checkmark willl appear and your clip will be displayed anamorphically. It is really not really captured any differently, it is merely displayed that way. And as far as the hit and miss thing goes, I have dealt with the same problem for years. But when you 'miss', just click the column.

Thanks so much, guys!

This exact same fix struck me last night as a possibility but I didn't get a chance to try it. I thought, hey, you can click in those columns and change the reel, etc, is there any chance you can do the same for this?

I can't believe it took me so long to think of trying it. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. Man, that's a lifesaver!
